I cook a lot of my meals at home and actually prefer home made over store bought any day but lets be honest…as a busy mom, sometimes there just isn’t enough hours in the day! Between drops offs and pick ups, work, after school activities and homework sometimes this mama just needs a break! On these busy days when we need to grab something quick I usually make my way over to one of these fast food places and am still able to stick to my eating plan.
We love this place because it has a healthy kids meals too. I always order a salad with a little bit of brown rice, black beans, chicken, peppers and onions and a side of guac. No dressing because the sauce and the guac make it pretty tasty. Be careful with your portions on this one! If they are a little more generous than usual I just save half for the following day for lunch.
Chick Fil A
Yes!! They have super yummy sandwiches and fries but have you tried their salads? The Market Salad is one of my favorites and I order it with the balsamic light dressing. It comes with chicken, berries, nuts, blue cheese, apples and carrots. Its filling and hits the spot!
If you can make it into a burger joint with out ordering a burger, this place has some pretty decent salads. We went their for dinner this weekend and was pleased with the Superfood Salad. It came with colored quinoa and baby kale with almond slivers, Craisins, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, and feta cheese tossed in a house-made kale pesto vinaigrette. I ask for the dressing on the side and only use half. You can always do oil and vinegar too! The only turn off with this place was that I noticed they don’t use gloves! Gross! Next time Ill just try not to look, haha!
So those are a few of my favorite places to eat at when we don’t have time to make lunch or dinner. A few others are Pollo Tropical, Whole Foods, and Raw Juce for an Acai Bowl….What are your favorite healthy spots?
