So you’ve been on you’re fitness journey for a few days now or maybe even a year and when that long holiday weekend comes around you struggle…I know how it is…You’re good all week and then you get invited to a party or bbq and then BAM! All your goals go out the door. Well Im here to tell you it doesn’t have to be that way! You CAN stick to your goals with out losing all that hard work. And more importantly, you can have FUN while doing it. Here are some tips that can help you get through the holiday with out having to sacrifice having a good time.
- Don’t show up hungry-Instead of showing up to the party starving try to eat something before hand like some greek yogurt or a shake. I always have my shakeology before I go to any party because it feels me up and helps to keep me from reaching for all the unhealthy snacks.
- Bring a HEALTHY appetizer – Instead of relying on the host to serve something that fits in your meal plan,
bring something you know you can have. Some ideas are a veggie platter, fruit platter, avocado and tomato salad or deviled eggs.
- Stay away from sugary cocktails– I know they taste yummy but they are loaded with calories and always give a hangover. Instead try something like vodka and
club soda with a splash of sugar free lemonade or some muddled fresh fruit. I love blending some fresh watermelon and adding it to a cocktail.
- Get your workout in– If you know you’re going to have a busy weekend plan ahead and get your workout in! If you have to wake up early and sacrifice thirty minutes of sleep, so be it! It will set the tone for the day and also make you feel GOOD in that bikini! Speaking of workouts, if you don’t have Beachbody on Demand (the netflix of workouts) try out this workout that will be sure to work up a sweat!
Most importantly remember that this is a journey and a lifestyle. You don’t want to look at things and thing you can’t have it but instead find healthy substitutions and have things in moderation. So what are your tips to stay on track this weekend?
Enjoy the long weekend and THANK YOU to those who sacrificed their life while fighting for our country! Happy Memorial Day!
